Caldera de Taburiente National Park
Caldera de Taburiente National Park is situated on the Island of La Palma. Here, the interior of a crater that is one of the biggest in the world ( 8 kilometres across ist widest point and over 1000 metres deep ) reveals the oldest rock in the archipelago and, in the torrents that pour down the sheer rockfaces, the miracle of water. It conserves the best instance of the Canary pine ecosystem, a great quantity of indigenous plant life and a fauna rich in island birds. The park extends over an area of 4690 hectares.
